On a dark rainy night, a mysterious killer claims another victim. On her hand, he carves the number 38. More murders follow with the same calling. During this time, a blind woman named Adachi Akiko visits a friend of her father’s who runs a quaint used bookstore called Tanabe Books with his grandson Minoru in downtown Tokyo. It appears the unfinished book that her father had written, entitled “Sabishii Karyudo” closely resembles the exact events happening in real life by the killer. With nowhere else to turn, it’s up to Iwa-san and Minoru to unravel the case.
