- “The Bread and the Alley” (1970) is about 10 minutes long and tells the story of a young boy who is blocked on his way to buy bread for the family when he encounters a presumed dangerous dog that wouldn’t let him walk past. In an attempt that reminds of Kiarostami’s later feature “Where Is My Friend’s Home” the boy tries to join an old man walking down the alley and thus overcome his fear in company of an elder, but he soon realizes the man won’t cross the path where the dog lies while going straight to his home. He then tries to overcome the obstacle on his own walking close to the wall to maintain a distance between himself and the dog. (mubi.com)
